Work Experience:

Jan 2009 - Sept 2009 The Loft Design & Print Ltd, Hoylake, Wirral

My role at The Loft was as their Web Designer. I was reponsible for coding up all their websites using HTML/CSS. The role also included web administration and magangement. I always made sure that each site met its deadline, as well as coded to the best of my ability. I mostly worked with jpeg visuals bringing them to life via coding. I primarily used Dreamweaver, Flash and Photoshop. I also implimented a high percentage of my University modules such as UID, HCI, Web Design, Multimedia tools.

I also intregated blogging tools such as tumblr into sites to make it easy for clients to update their blog to their existing site, without having to update tumblr then update their site.

I was made redundent from this role due to "the company experiencing economic downturn in business in recent months and the workload for your position as a trainee web designer decreasing dramatically."

Sept 2006 - Sept 2009 KOREC Group, Liverpool

I was employed by the construction firm KOREC Ltd as a graphic designer as part of
a work placement through university. This was my first job and offered me significant insight and into graphic design and marketing.

The role was split in two, predominantly graphic design but I also acted as an assistant to the marketing manager. I was the sole graphic designer for the organisation and had to work on my own initiative and to strict deadlines.

As a graphic designer, my responsibilities included –

  • Design and development of brochures, adverts and exhibition banners for the company in line with their corporate brand guidelines.
  • The design of complimentary gifts such as mugs and usb pens
  • Liaising with the printing company – ensuring that materials were sent to print with correct specifications

  • I also acted as assistant to the marketing manager. The responsibilities ofthis role included –

  • Monitoring the CRM system in the organisation and removing redundant data
  • Ordering work wear for staff
  • Managing communications with customers and staff from other UK branches of KOREC

  • I thoroughly enjoyed this year placement and felt I gained a comprehensive knowledge of graphic design that could easily be transferred to another setting. I was sad to leave this position, but had to in order to continue my studies in university.
